Six Point Nine
Director Dan Bootzin
Dan Bootzin was born in Los Angeles, California. He made his first movie when he was ten years old, shot with the family 8mm Bell & Howell.
He was a Fine arts major at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, studying painting, but eventually ended up at Los Angeles City College in the Cinema Department.
In 1985 he made "Volts", a five minute 16mm exploration of life, death, and electricity it played at the Director's Guild as part of the "Best Of LACC" screening.
"Six Point Nine" is his second 16 MM film. In March of 1991 it won the Golden Bear
for Best Short at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film also won First
Place Narrative at the Humboldt Film Festival, a Special Recognition at Sinking Creek,
and invitations to numerous international festivals throughout the world, including
London, Sundance, Turin, Aspen, Warsaw, Paris, and many others. It most recently
played in Monte Carlo for Prince Albert as part of a showcase of "America's Best
Short Films".
In the meantime, Dan has been working as a Film Editor at Venice Beach Editorial,
cutting numerous commercials and music videos. He is married and lives in Los Angeles
with his wife Elizabeth. Together they have written several feature length scripts.
